Rules and policies are in place to make sure your child remains safe and well at school.
Visit the NSW Department of Education’s policy library for all current operational policies.
Our school uses the department's School Community Charter to ensure all of our communication is collaborative and respectful.
Attendance and absences
Students must attend school regularly so they can achieve their educational best and increase their career and life options.
In NSW, all children from the age of 6 are legally required to attend school or be registered for home schooling through the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA). All students must complete Year 10, or its equivalent and remain in school, employment or training until they turn 17.

School frameworks (school rules)
As well as following the department’s operational policies, we have developed frameworks for our students in line with our school’s values and commitments.
Student Wellbeing - Positive Beahviour for Learning
Bondi Beach Public School is a Positive Behaviour for Learning School (PB4L). Positive Behaviour for Learning is an educational process that brings together the whole-school community to contribute to developing a positive, safe and supportive learning culture. The PB4L framework at BBPS aims to improve social, emotional, behavioural and academic outcomes for children.
Our school values were constructed in conjunction with our students, parents and community. At Bondi Beach Public School, we are Safe, Respectful, Kind Active Learners.
Student Wellbeing Policies
At Bondi Beach Public School we have a Student Wellbeing Policy, Discipline Policy and an Anti-Bullying Plan. Our discipline policy encourages our children to consider their responsibilities in the classroom and playground.
Children who are repeatedly involved in inappropriate behaviour are sent to a support desk in another classroom. This requires students to reflect on how their behaviour is affecting others in our school. We encourage our students to accept responsibility for their actions.
We work with parents of students who are experiencing difficulty in following school rules to ensure that students take responsibility for their own behaviour.
Recognition
Recognition for positive behaviours, academic achievement and effort sets the tone of every classroom. Blue awards are given in class each week which accumulates for students to earn Silver and Gold Awards, up to a School Banner.
In the playground, expected behaviour that is explicitly taught to students as part of our PB4L is recognised by receiving a Blue Wave token. This token is collected in every classroom and a class award is received once the Blue Waves have filled the class box.
In addition, a student is nominated from each term from every class to receive a Dolphin Pin for outstanding citizenship.
