Stories and highlights
There's always something to celebrate at our school! From exciting events to proud moments and everyday wins, here are some of our highlights.
A year at our school
Welcome BBQ
Our school community came together for the 2025 Welcome BBQ, Bondi Beach Public School’s annual tradition of welcoming our new Kindergarten families and all new families to the school.
Hosted by the P&C, with support from The Hive and an amazing team of Year 1 parent volunteers, the evening featured a delicious sausage sizzle, live music, games, and plenty of entertainment for everyone to enjoy.
It was a wonderful evening of fun, friendship, and community spirit on the front lawn—the perfect way to start the school year together!
Athletics Carnival
Our Years 3–6 Athletics Carnival was a fantastic day filled with energy, enthusiasm, and school spirit. Students gave their all in a variety of track and field events, showing great sportsmanship, determination, and teamwork throughout the day.
House colours were proudly worn, cheers rang out across the field, and it was wonderful to see everyone supporting their friends and celebrating each other’s achievements.
Education Week
Each year during Education Week, we warmly welcome families and friends to visit our open classrooms and enjoy our performance showcase. This special event celebrates the diverse talents of our students through music, band, recorder, singing, and dance.
Book Week
Our annual Book Parade is a celebration of reading and creativity that brings the whole school community together. Students dress up as their favourite characters, sparking excitement and a love of literature.
Science Week - Planetarium Incursion
To celebrate National Science Week, all classes enjoyed a planetarium incursion. Students explored the solar system, took part in an interactive quiz, and experienced a Star Dreaming Show.
The show shared the Indigenous perspective of the night sky, highlighting how Aboriginal people used the stars for navigation, timekeeping, and cultural guidance. It was a fascinating way for students to connect science, culture, and storytelling.
Extreme Dance Competition
Our students shone on stage at the Extreme Dance Competition, showcasing their hard work, talent, and team spirit. We are incredibly proud of how each dancer represented themselves, their troupe, and our school.
Performances by the Year 1–2 Show Troupe, Year 3–4 Show Troupe, Year 5–6 Show Troupe, and the Boys Hip Hop Crew were a highlight of the event, giving everyone an amazing opportunity to perform for friends and family.
Festival of the Winds
Our talented Recorder Ensemble and School Choir proudly represented our school at this year’s Festival of Winds. It was a wonderful opportunity for them to share their love of music and perform for families, friends and the wider community.
Friday Surfing Sessions
Our Stage 2 and Stage 3 students have been making the most of their Friday Surfing Sessions, learning valuable water safety skills and building confidence in the surf. Guided by experienced instructors, students have enjoyed the challenge of catching waves while developing teamwork, resilience, and a love for the ocean. It’s been a fantastic way to end the week with fun, fitness, and friendship!
Year 6 Camp
An excited group of Year 6 students set off to Tea Gardens for a three-day outdoor adventure camp. They took part in a range of exciting activities including canoeing, raft making, the giant swing, and Mud World.
From all reports (and plenty of photos!), the students had an incredible time challenging themselves, building teamwork skills, and making lasting memories with their friends.
“The school does a wonderful job celebrating learning and community — whether it’s Book and Science weeks, the 100 Days of School or the Athletics Carnival. Every event is thoughtfully planned and full of energy, giving students the chance to learn, explore and have fun in new ways. We love how these activities include everyone — students, parents and teachers alike — and help build such a strong sense of connection and pride across the whole school community.” - Deborah Obbelode a parent of Bondi Beach Public School.
“Our family love how the school creates so many fun and meaningful experiences for the kids. There’s always something to look forward to, and it really brings everyone together. It makes the kids proud to be part of the school community, and we’re so grateful for everything the school does.” - Maria Campos a parent of Bondi Beach Public School.
